The war of the fashion magazines: in the pick ups

A magazine war has taken hold of Britain's capital. Vogue, Pop, and Dazed & Confused have all formed rival DJ gangs (the Voguettes, the Popettes, and the Dazed Invaders) that are playing to well-heeled crowds across London. Casting circulation figures aside, it's the music that dictates who's nosing ahead of the competition.

Mulberry brings loopyness back

Illustrator Julie Verhoeven has just launched her collection of tees for Mulberry. The t-shirts with irreverent animal-print is already on sale for men and women. "The artwork for the T-shirts came about by wanting a little bit of loopyness for springtime and letting loose the Mulberry menagerie of daft animals," Verhoeven tells us. Featuring pig, cat or bunny motifs and at only £50 a pop, the Ts are the perfect way to celebrate the new season.

London Fashion Week: round up

The UK's answer to Halston this season, Ossie Clark, made a low-key comeback at the Serpentine Gallery yesterday. The classic label is back, for the first time since the '70s. The all-new design team is headed up by a group of Central St Martins graduates, lead by Avsh Alom Gur, whose own show will be taking place later in the week. The collection failed to stake a major presence on the catwalk, lacking the vibrant prints and technical lightness for which Clark was lauded.

Fashion critics may be divided over Marco Zanini's first collection, but some consumers have given it their vote of confidence. Twenty-four hours after a limited run of two key dresses from the runway went on sale at Net-a-porter.com on Tuesday, the designer e-commerce site reported the venture to be a hit. Some 25,000 women had logged on to see an edited version of the runway show within 60 minutes of it being posted. Net-a-porter.

Flying Feathers

If you want to look fashionable next fall, follow the flock. Feathers were a surprising trend on Tuesday at New York Fashion Week, showing up on coats, dresses and hats. In tough economic times, perhaps feathers seem a little less showy than fur. It's only the most literal bird influence, though. Look for colors next fall called goldfinch, cardinal and peacock, and some ornithology-inspired prints from Carolina Herrera.

New York Fashion week brings back Rock and Roll

New York Fashion week brings back Rock and Roll After a year of mostly grey it seems that we are back to black. One of the looks emerging at New York Fashion Week was pure rock: form-fitting, hard-edged rock and roll style. On Sunday, Max Azria brought back the bandage look of Herve Leger and outfitted rock starlets Joss Stone and Mandy Moore in the signature style in his front row. Rock & Republic turned for inspiration to the underworld and deep purple.

McQueen: A tribute to Isabella Blow

devoted his show on saturday to his mentor, the designer, whose talent was discovered by Blow brought to the catwalk a giant wing and feathers, probably underlining the idea that Blow is now with the angels. With a flutter of butterflies encasing her head as a fantasy hat and with a severely fitted dress, it could have been the late Isabella Blow walking down runway. "She influenced me a great deal - her personal style, her emotion and her fragility," said McQueen.

Stella McCartney goes green...one more time!

Stella McCartney goes green…one more time! Stella McCartney succumbed to the green-fingered vibe one more time. On the front row of her show, Lily Allen, Kanye West and Sir Paul McCartney took their seats to see the designer set her show within a botanical garden, a theme which spilled into the designs themselves - her flirty floral all-in-ones and cool, shark-print minis betrayed only a hint of the usual sporty sensibilities we expect from her.

Valentino bowed out of fashion in style. His last ready to wear collection dazzled the public with a gorgeous collection of gowns that floated down the catwalk in a confection of bows, ruffles, poufs and the bold, confident colours that he has made his own: Valentino red, of course; dashes of yellow; and polka dots on green and blue chiffon - were matched by long draughts of pure white.
