Stella McCartney and her green estatement

Designer Stella McCartney has created an 18-piece "green" line, exclusively for US retailer Barneys. Featuring Stella's signature oversize, sporty silhouettes and ultra-feminine dresses, the range promises to be 100 % organic, ethical and sustainable. "It's the first time a major designer has done a collection that's all organic," Julie Gilhart, Barneys' fashion director, told WWD. "It was a separate undertaking that Stella did for us. She had to source differently, do new designs and add an extra expense. In talking to other designers there's an interest but maybe they're not as familiar with it as Stella naturally is. She is the most perfect person to start this with." The collection will launch next month, with prices staring from around £300.
