CSM graduate designs fur for Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier chose a Central Saint Martins graduate to help
design his controversial collection for next winter.
The French designer caused a stir at Paris Fashion Week yesterday with his show
which featured fox fur and goat-skin pieces designed by London-based Kim Lewis.
Spotted by talent scouts selling her own clothes and accessories on Portobello
Market, the 27-year-old spent six weeks hand-crafting several items for the
show.
Lewis, whose own label Kimoko Red has built up a steady following over recent
years, is said to have worked on the printed animal pieces with a small team on
the Indonesian island
of Java.
As well as fur, Gaultier's collection also featured a crocodile leather jacket,
animal-print dresses and silk scarves.
