Karl
Lagerfeld showcases Chanel's Métiers d'Art collection
Karl Lagerfeld will present his Paris-Londres Métiers d'Art collection for Chanel
in London tomorrow.
The collection, which was established in
2002, is a celebration of the craftsmanship of the Parisian ateliers which
CHANEL has worked with for many decades. The collection is always shown outside
of the main fashion calendar and showcases the work of the different couture
ateliers from the costume jeweller, feather artisan, and boot maker, to the
embroiderer, silversmith and floral designer.
Among those expected at Thursday's
presentation of Chanel's luxury pre-fall collection in London are Lily Allen, Rinko Kikuchi,
Charlotte Casiraghi, Natalie Imbruglia, Thandie Newton, Claudia Schiffer and
Emma Watson.
For 2008, the collection pays
homage to the men who inspired Coco Chanel, including Boy Capel and the Duke of
Westminster who introduced the designer to 'English chic'; London was therefore deemed a fitting
location to present the collection. Métiers d'Art has previously been shown in Paris in 2002 and 2003, Tokyo
in 2004, New York in 2005 and Monte Carlo in 2006.
