Queue for Cavalli, would you?
The father of glamour (and animal prints
motives)
might be in New
York for the launching of his collection for H&M, but right
here in London
is where the fun happens. With queues having started at 6am this
morning, crowds of girls – and guys – could be seen snaking around the corner
and down the street in the hope of bagging the best buys from the latest
designer collaboration from the Swedish label, which in the past has created
ranges with Viktor & Rolf, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld. "It's
amazing. There were 250 to 300 people in the queue and we were handing out
goodie bags," said an H&M spokesperson as the store was being quickly
emptied by shoppers grabbing armfuls of the collection – despite having been told
to go "slowly, slowly" by the man on the door. Bringing us the glitz
and glamour for which he is well known and at affordable prices, the collection
comprises 20 menswear pieces and 25 womenswear pieces as well as lingerie and
accessories. High on everyone's hit list this morning? The maxi-length leopard
print dress which, if it hasn't already sold out, is bound to by lunch. Roberto
Cavalli at H&M goes on sale in 200 selected stores worldwide today.
