Fashion students’ big chance
Designers will get the opportunity to display their talents this
April at the British Fashion Council (BFC) Colleges Council open day.
Students who plan on working in the fashion business can showcase their designs
at the event which will be held on April the 8th at the Royal Institute of
British Architects (RIBA) premises, Portland
Street, London.
Hilary Riva, chief executive of the British Fashion Council, said: "This
event has proved to be a fantastic networking opportunity for all concerned,
and is a great way for the country's top fashion colleges to cement their
relationships with key industry decision makers."
Colleges can also compete for the Drapers College Portfolio Award. This is presented
to the college which is judged as having the most superior portfolio.
Students following the 3 [three] year BA (Hons) Fashion course from Manchester
Metropolitan received the award last year.
Anne Tyrrell, British Fashion Council vice-chairman, said:
"What impressed me was the individuality of the work."
The course was also the recipient of the Graduate Fashion Week Zandra Rhodes
Textiles Prize.
