Galliano teams up with Diesel
John Galliano has hooked up with Diesel to
create a line of childrenswear. Dior's main man has signed a five-year
licensing agreement with the Italian label for an as-yet unnamed collection,
which is aimed at girls and boys aged four to 14. "The premium world is
generally booming, so it's no surprise that it also touches the kidswear
business, a market which has been experiencing amazing growth
year-on-year," Diesel chief Renzo Rosso told WWD. "Galliano
likes to play and create fairy-tale worlds even for adults. Imagine what he can
do for kids." We won't have to wait too long to find out; the line will be
revealed in January, with a view to putting it in stores for autumn/winter
2008-9. Next year will be a busy one for Mr Galliano, as the childrenswear
range is just one of many new licensed lines he is launching - watches,
cosmetics and swimwear are also in the pipeline.
