London Fashion Week: round up
London Fashion Week: round up

The UK's answer to Halston this season, Ossie Clark, made a low-key comeback at the Serpentine Gallery yesterday. The classic label is back, for the first time since the '70s. The all-new design team is headed up by a group of Central St Martins graduates, lead by Avsh Alom Gur, whose own show will be taking place later in the week.

The collection failed to stake a major presence on the catwalk, lacking the vibrant prints and technical lightness for which Clark was lauded.

Elsewhere, the London catwalk had Paul Smith and his femme fatale in sliced-up chiffon blouses and swishy skirts, Sinha-Stanic with neon punk pieces tempered by gorgeous tuck fold puffball skirts and PPQ.

Today, new generation, are the words as 6 of the 8 New Gen sponsored designers head down the catwalk.

First up in Duro Olowu with his multicultural prints and effortless tailoring, closely followed by Swiss Textiles winner Marios Schwab with hopefully another innovative yet very wearable and feminine collection for autumn/winter.

Next from the New Gen camp is the hugely anticipated Christopher Kane. Fashion lovers will be queuing out of the Topshop venue to see how he follows up his Wizard of Oz meets apocalypse spring/summer collection.

Kane is quickly followed by newcomers Meadhamkirchhoff and Krystof Stroznya showing back to back in the BFC Tent.

Meadhamkirchhoff (aka Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchoff) are graduates of Fashion East and their debut solo show promises plenty of the gothic, urban rock star style that is already loved by Kylie and Courtney Love.

Krystof Stroznya caused a stir with his MA collection of bold tailoring, oversized jewels and waist cinching belts so we look forward to seeing what he has to offer us for autumn/winter o8.

Topping off today's New Gen invasion is Todd Lynn with his fourth season on the Topshop funded initiative. His cool laid back suits and simple yet edgy tailoring is always popular with the London fashion pack.

Also hitting the catwalk today are Fashion Week veteran Betty Jackson and uber cool label Aquascutum.
